Group Visits

Groups are especially welcome and Wilton House offers all the facilities for a perfect day out.  We are happy to tailor visits to a group’s specific requirements and to liaise with group organisers or tour companies to achieve this.

Groups of 15 and over are requested to pre-book to receive group rates for their visit and to ensure one of our Visitor Hosts is available on the day to welcome your party on arrival.

Groups may visit the House on a free flow basis or take a pre booked guided tour.  Many of our guides are multi-lingual and we offer tours in French, German, Spanish and Italian.  

Groups are welcome throughout the season.  Guided tours for groups are also available at other times of the year by arrangement.

If you are a group organiser and are considering Wilton House, why not visit us free of charge? Please contact the Tourism Office on 01722 746714 for further details and book your free admission to the House and Grounds for yourself and your companion.  

On arrival, groups are met by a Visitor Host and individual tickets and Wilton House leaflets are distributed.  

Wilton House guide books cost £5 and can be bought at Admissions.  The guide book describes each room in detail and gives a history of the family.  In addition, room guides are positioned in the principal rooms and are always on hand to answer questions.  

Groups should allow at least 1 hour to view the House, and a further 30 minutes for the Old Riding School, Film and Exhibitions.  The Grounds are extensive and take up to 1 hour to explore.  Groups are welcome to picnic in the Grounds.  

For most of the season, access to the House is on a free flow basis.  However, on some quieter days, access to the House is by guided visit.  Guides take visitors on short tours of the main state rooms, leaving the remainder of the House to be visited on a free flow basis.  Guided visits start every 30 minutes from the Front Hall and take about 40 minutes.  On guided tour days, groups may book on a tour of their choice in advance or on arrival.  Due to the size of some of the rooms, numbers on each tour are limited to 20 and so larger groups will be divided.  

Group prices include admission to the House, but for groups of 15 and more we do offer guided tours.  Guided tours give groups the opportunity to take a more detailed look at the House and its contents.  Led by experienced guides, guided tours are also ideal for those groups who have a specific interest in one aspect of the collection such as furniture or painting.

Guided tours are for a minimum of 15 and cost an additional £6 per person above the admission price.  Tours last about 90 minutes but can be shortened on request.  They are available during normal opening dates and times.  Tours are also available in German, French and Italian.

INCLUSIVE DAY PACKAGE

Wilton House and Salisbury Cathedral

In conjunction with Salisbury Cathedral, we offer an inclusive day out package combining the majestic medieval cathedral of Salisbury with the artistic splendours of Wilton House.  Entry to both is included, together with refreshments at either location.  There is no restriction on the order the properties are visited, and refreshments can be taken at any time by arrangement.  One phone call to Wilton House on 01722 746714 or Salisbury Cathedral on 01722 555124 is all that is needed to complete the arrangements.  

The cost per person is £17.00 and is available to pre booked parties only.

OUT OF HOURS TOURS

Groups may prefer to visit the House when it is closed to general visitors.  This is possible with an out of hours tour starting at 10.30am and is available on normal opening dates.  The tour costs £18 per person, or £21 to include waitress service coffee and biscuits on arrival at 10am.  Both prices also include general admission, and entry to the Old Riding School exhibitions and film.

GROUP CATERING
